Eight-week program that presents yoga as physical education. This programs is often used during special class times or as an alternative for PE.
Mighty Minds is a preventative and proactive program that uses yoga and mindfulness practices to help students improve attention, cognitive abilities and executive functioning as well as help change negative automation, improve mood and increase well-being through the development of self-awareness, self-regulation and pro-social behavior. This program can also be used in conjunction with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS). All students in a classroom are able to participate in our program; however, it is often used as an intervention for Tier 2 and 3 students.
Investigation of the benefits of yoga in schools requires a set core curriculum of focus to assure similar intentions, content and integration is being presented consistently throughout the system. All Mighty Minds programs for the general student population use the following framework for activities, processes and lessons.
-Settling in and practicing mindfulness
-Breath attention and stillness
-Set an intention
BREATHING EXERCISES / PRANAYAMA
PHYSICAL POSES & MOVEMENT / ASANAS
-Standing and balance poses
-Seated forward folds and twists
-Final relaxation / Savasana
-Review what has been learned
-Assign take away lessons

We currently offer our Mighty Minds program in six elementary schools in the greater Indianapolis area, most of them are part of IPS. We also offer programs specifically for teen girls and teen boys and have active programs at two schools, IPS #19 and George Washington Community High School.
We are currently working on programs for the 2017-2018 school year.
We are currently hosting eight yoga programs throughout Indianapolis and have plans for expansion in 2017.
